ISO 20000 Registrars

If you're responsible for IT quality in your organization, you're probably familiar with ISO 20000 and ISO 20000 registrars. In a nutshell, ISO 20000 is a set of recognized international standards for IT service management systems established in 2005 to create guidelines for compliance with best practices in IT systems management. NQA is one of the leading ISO 20000 registrars in the world, helping organizations of all sizes attain ISO 20000 certification.

Two Parts of ISO 20000

ISO 20000 consists of two basic parts. Part 1 is designed to help organizations develop integrated processes necessary to deliver effective managed IT services to customers and is the part for which certification applies to.

Part 2 deals with the development and implementation of best practices that are needed to attain Part 1 objectives.

The Role of ISO 20000 Registrars

ISO registrars, such as NQA, provide the guidance necessary for organizations to attain ISO 20000 certification. At NQA, we take what we refer to as a "size and service-level balance" approach to the registration process by offering a wide variety of certifications managed by specialized Business Units focused on the technical excellence of the services we provide. For you this means NQA can offer specialized service to meet your ISO registration needs.

The ISO 20000 Registration Process

ISO 20000 registrars, such as NQA, typically begin the registration process by asking you to fill out and submit a questionnaire detailing your IT management systems needs and objectives. NQA will then return a quote for its services to you at no cost.

Should you decided to go ahead with the registration, NQA will begin the auditing process, which can include a pre-assessment audit should you elect. The actual audit typically consists of an on-site visit to your place of business, as well as an off-site document review. The auditors will examine all relevant IT management system processes and documentation.

Recommendations

At the conclusion of the auditing process, the auditors will summarize their findings, and if they believe the IT systems are in compliance with ISO 20000, will make a recommendation for registration to the ISO 20000 registrars. If improvements need to be made, they will indicate the necessary actions in the report they leave behind. Even if registration is approved, professional ISO 20000 registrars, such as NQA, provide ongoing "audit surveillance" to ensure continuing compliance with quality standards.
