Release of TS 16949:2009

By: Peter Theobald

On June 15th, 2009 a revised version of the ISO/TS 16949 specification was released. This revision is designated as ISO/TS 16949:2009. The changes are identical to those in the already released ISO 9001:2008 document; the purpose of this revision is to bring the two documents back into alignment. Go to the IATF website to review the IATF CB Communiqué 2008-006 for more information.

To reduce impact and cost to suppliers and registrars alike the IATF has instructed that all currently issued certificates do not need to be transitioned to the new revision until the next regular recertification audit. However, if clients would like their certificates transitioned prior to this audit, this can be undertaken during a surveillance audit. No additional time and hence cost will be needed to conduct this transition, above and beyond existing certification and audits fees.

If you have any questions concerning the transition or any aspect of the NQA ISO/TS 16949 certification process, please feel free to contact your new TS Customer Support Representative or the Automotive Business Unit Director or the Automotive Technical Manager.
